Our Community is AMAZING: Families Feeding Families Exceeds Goal

Feb 28, 2022

Families Feeding Families was a big success this year, doubling our goal to benefit those experiencing homelessness.

Thanks to our community, this year’s Families Feeding Families campaign exceeded our goal by securing at least 200 care packages for those experiencing homelessness!

This year’s campaign had a slightly different focus than years past, focusing on families and individuals experiencing homelessness. The list of items included thick socks for those living out in the elements, as well as nutritious, high-protein items that don’t require appliances to keep or prepare.

Did you know?
• Between Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls, there are 500 children that are classified as without a permanent home.
• Most individuals who come to The Kroc seeking emergency food and shelter are employed.
• A growing number of seniors are living in their car.

The Kroc Center originally planned for its members to fulfill the campaign and were surprised when we were approached by Ramsey Magnet School of Science who were eager to help!

Ramsey students did a competition between classrooms and successfully filled about 60 boxes of food and supplies.

Additionally, an extra 50 boxes of pantry staples went to fill the shelves of St. Vincent de Paul’s Father Bill’s Kitchen, the only dining hall of the hungry and homeless in Kootenai County.

Kids from our Play Care program also contributed to the boxes, coloring hearts and signed their names and ages. That was the first thing people saw when they opened the boxes.

Once again we are blown away by our community’s generosity to help our neighbors in need. THANK YOU for sharing with those living without a place to call “home”! The love and support we’ve received for these individuals in need has been incredible. Kroc Staff and Volunteers have prepped and transported the care packages to St Vincent de Paul North Idaho and food banks throughout North Idaho. As additional donations roll in, The Kroc Team will continue to provide food, socks, and grocery gift cards throughout the year.
