Kroc Water Polo Club

The Kroc CDA Water Polo Club is a co-ed group with a solid core of adult and high-school players, with skills ranging from novice to former collegiate, ages 14 to 70.
We also have Junior Water Polo (ages 7-10) and Development Water Polo (ages 10-17)

All practices take place here at The Kroc Center in Coeur d'Alene in our 25m x 25yd deep water competition pool. We play against teams from Missoula, Moscow, Pullman, Boise, Seattle and occasionally travel to tournaments further away.

We are always looking for more players from the Spokane/greater Coeur d'Alene area. The Kroc Center is helping to keep the costs to participate with our club minimal so that everyone can participate. The only requirements to join are to be able to swim 100 yards non-stop, tread water for a couple minutes and bring a great attitude to learn and have fun with a fantastic group of people!

Club Goals

• Build a fun, supportive, active water polo community in the greater North Idaho/Coeur d’Alene area.
Develop water polo programs for Junior (ages 7-10), Development (10–17), High School (ages 14-20) and Masters water polo.
• Hold water polo clinics and host tournaments.

High School Water Polo State Championships Update!

Our Kroc/CDA water polo club had a great weekend at the Idaho State Championships in Boise.  Both our girls and boys varsity teams won their respective divisions and remain state champions - 10 years running!  We were also able to enter both boys and girls Junior Varsity (JV) teams.  Both of them won all their JV games and were even competitive with the varsity teams that they played.

In the championship games, the boys played first in a good competitive match with the Boise Sharks.  The game was close in the first half and Boise actually scored 2 of the first 3 goals.  However, our boys grew stronger as the game went on and were able to steadily grow the lead to a solid final score of 22-11.  The girls team trounced their competition throughout the tournament.  In the championship game, also against Boise, the girls jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first quarter and steadily added goals throughout the game, finishing with a final score of 19-4.  In the championship games, Gianna Gonzalez led the way with 7 goals and for the boys, Isaac Thorpe scored an amazing 9 goals.  Both of them were aided by many excellent assists from other teammates.

Our players not only played well but showed the attributes of our team - great sportsmanlike play, respect for the other teams and having fun.  We have a large number of very good younger players, which gives us great prospects for the team going forward.

As always, a huge thank you to the Kroc, Salvation Army and the parents for all the help and support for our team - we have 40 very happy boys and girls!
