2018 Holiday Report

In the last three months, you have given $384,769 to help our community.

Kettle funds and all donations to The Salvation Army help The Kroc Center operate 15 community outreach activities.

While The Center itself is completely funded by membership dues and The Kroc endowment, community outreach programs rely on donations to help struggling neighbors in Kootenai County.

Thank you to the 400 volunteer bell ringers who gave 1700 hours at the Kettle this season!

Kroc Membership for All

“I was hopeless. I didn’t see myself living. Daily I would think how I could check out of this place.” – Tracy

Kettle funds allow us to offer Kroc membership scholarships to those who need it the most:

• Single Parents

• Veterans

• Those struggling with addiction or depression

Families Feeding Families

“By February our shelves are pretty bare.” – Kroc Food Bank Partner

Since 2010, Kettle funds have helped provide 5,000 struggling families with a Thanksgiving meal in their own home. The 2018 Kettle funds will be used to help feed families this coming February!

It is with great excitement that we have postponed the food drive we have traditionally held in November in order to better serve our community.

In meeting with the local food banks and churches who distribute the food donated by Kroc members and business partners, we had one resounding piece of feedback: the month of February would make a much greater impact.

After the New Year is when many families struggle with paying for food and utility bills, and the food banks receive fewer donations after the holidays.

Clothe a Child

“My mom has been going through a hard time. I was running out of clothes that fit. My mom didn't have money to buy me more. Now I have more clothes. Today I am wearing the shoes and shirt that I picked. Thank you for putting in your time and money for us to shop for new clothes that fit.” – 5th Grade Girl

Too many children arrive at school each day cold, wet and without proper winter clothing. The Kroc Center works with local schools to identify and help our community's neediest children.

This year, 220 students in grades 1-8 from Lakeland, Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene schools received a $100 winter clothing shopping spree and some special one-on-one attention from their volunteer shopping chaperone.

After School Care and Transportation

“I didn’t really have any friends until I started coming to the After School Program. Then I met some friends and we have fun drawing comics and hanging out until my mom comes to get me after work. I really like The Kroc staff. They helped me meet my new friends.” – 8th Grade Boy

In the hours after school gets out and before parents get home from work, The Kroc Center provides safe haven for local youth. Students in grades 6–8 receive homework help, a healthy snack, and participate in all the fun activities The Kroc Center has to offer.

Red Kettle donations will help provide snacks, supplies and transportation from three local middle schools a total of 191 days this year!

Third Grade Swim

“Thank you for teaching me I don’t have to be afraid of the water.” – 3rd Grade Girl

Did you know that Idaho has one of the highest drowning rates in the nation?

The Kroc Center is responding to this staggering statistic by partnering with third grade classes throughout Kootenai County.

Thanks in part to Kettle funds, students receive 5 days of water safety and swim lessons with caring, certified instructors. Donations allow us to offset transportation costs and make sure local kids have the opportunity to learn the life-saving skill of swimming!
