Your ongoing financial support allowed the traditional work of The Salvation Army to impact lives throughout Kootenai County. Both community members and many of The Kroc staff you see each day were directly and positively impacted with rental, food, utility and emergency assistance.
SERVICES RENDERED MARCH–JULY:
Donations allow us to provide assistance specific to a person’s or family’s needs including rent or utility assistance to help make ends meet--some were able to find employment after being laid off, but the interim without pay put families behind in paying monthly expenses. Other needs included shelter, showers, food, gas, and child care.
One gentleman had been living in his car when he injured his leg. We were able to connect him with medical services but also paid for a few nights in a hotel so he could elevate his leg properly and get a shower.
Another man lost his job and had no resources to look for work or create a resume. We were able to offer a computer, internet access and someone to encourage him as he struggled with the words to put on a resume.
One single mom of three came to us on her lowest day. Desperate to get to work one day, her car would not start. We were able to take her car to our mechanic and help with childcare expenses.
Another woman lost her husband last year and is now raising her two grandchildren on her own. She is 70 years old and works nights full-time. We were able to help pay for groceries and utilities, and connected her with a support group.
